... why not sue God ...

god.jpg - 3877 BytesAn Act of God is the reason used by some Electricity companies as the reason to avoid paying users compensation of £50 per day of loss of service. The companies blame this 'Act of God' for the destruction of power lines which has cut off millions of households. Five days later many thousands of people still have no electricity. Cutting staff, reducing investment to boost the pay of management and to increase share value presumably has little to do with the problem.

If the companies are not responsible could they suggest to householders which particular church, as God's representative on Earth, to sue. Why can God cannot do some nice acts, such as a promise of sunny weather on public holidays. As I believe Woody Allan once said 'God is the world's biggest under achiever'.

On a serious note should we not move from an almighty corporate, globalised God to a more distributed religious system, such as paganism. In this way 'Acts of God' would be far more localised and the religious sect responsible far more easily to identify and deal with - I've always wanted to see a remake of the Wicker Man.
