... what the butler saw ...

Paul Burel, Paul Burrell, Paul Burell, Princess Di's butler

According to the press the princes, Wills and Harry, were known to throw things - like books - at servants. So amusing. Footman were sent out to buy them soft porn mags - Can Dirty Desmond claim his 'By Royal Appointment' logo?

Prince Charles had his own crockery sent his private room, in his private hospital, so that he could eat food cooked at home and brought in by his staff - good touch of the common man there. He even had a valet hold the bottle when he wanted to pee. I wonder where that fits into the job specification?

The Paul Burrell case is showing that the royals are in fact bad employers - who expect loyalty, but seem to have little care and understanding of the serf class - that's the rest of us. A discreet investigation would have sorted out the matter without any publicity.

The case and the privilege which nearly resulted in an innocent man go to jail because of discretion and deference was annoying and has portrayed this country, supposedly a democracy, supposedly an advanced knowledge based economy as something out of the Dark Ages.

We need to look at the role of royalty in this country or we will become a laughing stock.
