... stop junk mail ...

To stop junk mail put your name on the Mail Preference Service list. Fill in a simple form and your name and address will be taken off all the major direct mail company lists and most of the list processing businesses. You will also have the right to complain if you are targeted by a business. It takes between three and six months to get off the lists.

Another useful service is the Telephone Preference Service which stops the majority of direct marketing calls. I subscribed about a year ago and hardly get bother at all. I can watch Neighbours in peace and have my evening mail.

There are other services, such as an email service, which I have not tried as yet, on the Direct Mail Association's consumer pages.

Note the Direct Marketing Association charge you for registering with the telephone preference service. Going direct to the telephone preference service is free.
